Shah is the Engineering Lead at Facebook Connectivity. He manages the Cellular Technology team, which aims to bring more people online by enabling operators and service providers with open, flexible, and extensible carrier-grade cellular systems, including packet core and backhaul technologies. His team is developing a distributed packet core technology called Magma, which Facebook open-sourced at Mobile World Congress 2019 and which is currently in live trials around the globe.
Before Facebook, Shah was an Engineering Director at Ericsson, where he led the NFV platform team for EPC gateways (vEPG, vBNG, vWMG, and vSecGW). Previously, he managed teams at Redback Networks and Cisco Systems, spanning a leadership and engineering career of over 19 years. He has authored 18 patents and has another seven pending with the USPTO.
Shah holds a master’s degree from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Queensland, Australia, both in Electrical Engineering.
