Kalyan (“Kal”) Subramanian leads the Wireless Protocols and Platforms SW Engineering team at Meta Connectivity in Menlo Park, California. In previous lives, he has successfully built and delivered products based on technologies, ranging from audio and video coding, GPS receivers, FPGAs and SoCs for wireline and wireless communication protocols, massive multi-core processors, massive MIMO antenna systems, new PHY layer modulation techniques, and mobile internet routers. Since joining Meta, he has been responsible for launching a 60 GHz mesh radio network technology (aka “Terragraph”), and now is focusing on open RAN innovation to enable Metaverse apps and connectivity.
He graduated in EE from the Indian Institute of Technology and pursued doctoral work in Physics. Kal is a board member at the OSA representing Meta Connectivity.
