OpenAirInterface is pleased to announce its summer workshop on May 21-22, 2025, hosted by Ericsson at its prestigious headquarters in Kista, Sweden. This event is the first gathering of OAI experts, developers, researchers, and the broader OAI community to explore the needs we expect OAI to fulfill for 6G and AI-driven networks.
Of late, the OAI leadership and team have closely watched and participated in various gatherings of the 6G and AI research communities. Several researchers are already leveraging OAI for their work in different ways. At the same time, a broader consultation with these communities is essential to understand how leading open-source projects like OpenAirInterface can serve the community’s needs for 6G and AI-driven networks.
Defining the technical capabilities required for an AI-native 6G reference implementation is critical to shaping OAI’s roadmap and reinforcing its role as a key enabler for future wireless networks. This workshop will provide a platform for experts and contributors to exchange insights, share technical advancements, and help steer OAI’s development in response to these evolving needs.
We thank Ericsson for hosting the OAI community at one of the greatest temples of cellular wireless technology and look forward to seeing you in Kista in May 2025.
