The OpenAirInterface Software Alliance is proud to share the exciting news that Facebook Connectivity has joined the organization’s Strategic Board.

Facebook Connectivity works closely with partners including mobile network operators, equipment manufacturers and more to develop programs and technologies that increase the availability, affordability and awareness of high-quality internet access.

In its four year history, OpenAirInterface has served as an innovation agent and catalyst. The OpenAirInterface Software Alliance has always prided itself on being the “5G software alliance for democratising wireless innovation.” OAI is focused on accomplishing its goals of creating software that matters for industry and thus for tomorrow’s markets.

Our two organizations have a history of collaboration. The OAI Evolved Packet Core today sits at the heart of Magma, an open source software platform by Facebook Connectivity that gives network operators an open, flexible and extendable mobile core network solution. The OpenAirInterface team believes that this new strategic relationship will further enable collaboration between the Magma and OAI teams to lay the foundations of a converged Open Core Network catering to the needs of research communities as well as industry’s use-cases.
